Fiji's Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will attend the ongoing 69th UN General Assembly session in New York, media reported Sunday.

Bainimarama made the announcement Sunday at the ANZ Stadium after meeting his supporters during the inter-faith service for his party FijiFirst, which secured victory in the elections held Sep 17, Fiji Live reported.

Bainimarama is expected to inform the UN of Fiji's road to democracy which has seen the people electing him back into government.

The FijiFirst party of Bainimarama that came to power in 2006 in a bloodless coup received 60 percent of votes in the recently held elections.
