A minor fire broke out in the railway guest house located close to a busy market in the heart of the capital but it was brought under control in a little over an hour, a fire official said. No casualty was reported.
"Twelve fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire after it was reported at 6.50 p.m. The fire was doused around 8 p.m.," an official of the Delhi Fire Service told IANS.
The fire was on the second floor of the building that houses the guest house located at Railway Colony near Shankar Market in the bustling Connaught Place area.
The building was immediately evacuated.
Some electronic equipment, furniture and some documents were reduced to ashes in the blaze, a police official said adding the cause of the fire is being investigated.
