Several government documents were destroyed when a fire broke out in the Border Security Force's (BSF) office here on Tuesday, said authorities. No one injured.

The fire was reported at 12.17 p.m. on the first-floor office of the BSF headquarters in the fourth Block of the Central Government Offices complex on Lodhi Road in New Delhi area.

Fire officials took about 45 minutes to douse the flames erupting in the documentation section, which also has the offices of air wing and communications department of the BSF.

The section stored a number of important documents, BSF officials said.

"Seven fire tenders were pressed into service after a call was received. The fire fighters managed to douse the blaze by 1 p.m.," a Delhi Fire Service official said.

According to the official, no one suffered injury in the blaze as the employees working in the section were evacuated within a few minutes after the fire broke out.

A BSF official said the fire engulfed the entire floor and destroyed several computers and documents.

"One of the staff members spotted smoke coming out of the floor and immediately informed the fire brigade. The fire broke out after an electrical short-circuit in an air conditioner," the BSF official said.

The official said the building does not house the office of the Director General of the BSF.
