Five people were killed after landslides caused a train derailment in Tasikmalaya of West Java Friday evening, an Indonesian official said.
The accident took place when Malabar train enroute to East Java was passing Kampung Terung village at 18:30 p.m., Xinhua quoted Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesperson of the national disaster agency, as saying.
Three corpses have been recovered while two more remain trapped in the three derailed carriages. Rescuers are trying hard to recover the two bodies, he added.
The train was carrying about 250 people.
Landslides are frequent during the wet season in the vast archipelago country.
