At least five security personnel were killed and two injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Monday.

Unidentified militants targeted a vehicle of security personnel in Margut area of Quetta city through a remote-controlled bomb, Dawn online quoted a security personnel as saying.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan, Pakistan's largest but least developed province, has for over a decade remained in the grip of violence, which has claimed thousands of lives.
