The Indian Army said on Monday that the security forces have foiled attempts to revive terrorism in the south of Pir Panjal range in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Public relations Officer (PRO) of the Udhampur headquartered Northern Command, Lieutenant Colonel Abhinav Navneet, said in a statement, "Combined efforts of Indian Army (Rashtriya Rifles) and J&K Police in Gool and Ramban under Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) delivered a major setback to terrorist outfits in their efforts to revive terrorism south of Pir Panjal Range.

"Based on specific intelligence inputs, the security forces conducted an operation in Harah village in Gool Tehsil in the early hours of Monday. During the operation, the security forces apprehended two suspected terrorists and recovered one AK-47 assault rifle with ammunition, personal items and cash worth Rs 8,871 from their possession."

Navneet further said, "Both the individuals belong to South Kashmir and are in their teens. Sources confirmed that both intended to join the terrorist cadre of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

"The timely apprehension of suspected terrorists and recovery of war-like stores has thwarted the nefarious design of terrorist organisations to spread the 'arc of terrorism' south of Pir Panjal Range."
