The armed forces are free to appropriately respond to the developing situation at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister A.K. Antony said Monday.
"The armed forces have freedom to respond to the developing situation there appropriately," Antony told reporters here.
Antony was here for the launch of India's first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. The vessel was launched by Antony's wife Elizabeth.
Five Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush at the LoC last week.
According to a defence spokesman, Pakistani troops violated the bilateral ceasefire thrice since Sunday.
