Arrested Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh Wednesday demanded that the party constitute an internal probe panel on the Saradha scam within 72 hours.
In a letter read out to the media by his counsel, Ghosh said he would not issue any public statement for the next 72 hours.
"I demand that the party form an organisational probe commission within 72 hours. I will not issue any public statement during these 72 hours," Ghosh said in the missive, addressed to party secretary general Partha Chatterjee.
Ghosh, now suspended by the party, was arrested last November by the Special Investigation Team of the West Bengal police in connection with the scandal, believed to run into thousands of crores of rupees.
Ghosh, who drew a whopping Rs.15 lakh monthly salary as Saradha Media CEO, got sucked into the controversy after his name figured in a letter purportedly written by scam mastermind and Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen to the country's premier probe agency Central Bureau of Investigation in April last year.
Sen had urged that the letter be treated as a first information report.
The arrest came hours after the Rajya Sabha member wrote to the then prime minister Manmohan Singh, demanding a CBI probe into the scam.
