Former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella who helmed the team in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been discharged from hospital after five days.

Sabella, 61, was admitted to the Hospital Italiano here on Friday and was discharged on Wednesday. But concerns remain about his health, reports Xinhua.

One of the coach's sons, Alejo, confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday his father was now at home with his family in response to rumours suggesting the situation was more serious.

When the coach, who led the national team to the second place in Brazil, was admitted to hospital, no further medical statement was issued, causing all sorts of rumors to circulate.

For that reason, hundreds of fans expressed their support to the coach through social networking sites where "#FuerzaSabella" ("#StrengthSabella) became a trending topic in Argentina.

In December, Sabella underwent an angioplasty for a heart condition at the same health center. However, in this instance, the public were kept uptodate about his condition.

After the World Cup 2014 in Brazil, which Argentina lost 0-1 in the final to Germany, the former player did not return to coaching despite offers from various clubs in various countries.

Sabella used to play for River Plate, Estudiantes and Ferro in Argentina as well as Brazil's Gremio and Sheffield and Leeds United in England. He coached Estudiantes from 2009 to 2011.

During his stint with Estudiantes, Sabella helped the team become champions in the Copa Libertadores de America in 2009 and the team made it to the final of the Club World Cup where they lost 1-2 to Barcelona.
