A court here Friday rejected the bail application filed by former Rajasthan minister Babulal Nagar, accused of raping a married woman, his lawyer said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed a charge-sheet Dec 9 in the district and sessions court here against Nagar under Section 376 (rape), 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (intimidation).
A 35-year-old woman has alleged that Nagar raped her Sep 11.
Nagar's lawyer Amar Singh said an application seeking bail was filed in the court of district and sessions judge Virendra Mathur.
"The court today (Friday) rejected the bail application," Singh said.
Nagar, 53, resigned from the state cabinet two days after the police complaint was registered Sep 17. He was minister of state for dairy and rural industries in the previous Congress government.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that Nagar called her to his official residence on the pretext of giving her a government job and raped her.
