At least four militants were killed and eight others were detained Tuesday as security forces stormed Taliban hideouts in Afghanistan, the country's interior ministry said.
"The special forces of national police launched cleanup operations in Dahnai Ghori district in northern Baghlan province Tuesday and so far eight militants including two commanders, namely Mullah Ghayor and Mullah Janan, have been captured and four others were killed," Xinhua quoted an interior ministry statement as saying.
The statement said that these people had been involved in organising roadside bombings and attacking government officials and their arrest would lead to improvement in the security situation in Baghlan and adjoining areas.
