Four persons were trapped in a lift in a commercial complex in Noida, abutting Delhi, Friday afternoon, police said.
The incident took place in the Silver Tower complex in sector 18 when four persons took the elevator for the 11th floor. The lift suddenly stopped between the third and the fourth floors.
The trapped persons pressed the alarm but people from nearby shops could not open the lift door. Even the police have so far not succeeded in rescuing them.
"Four people have been inside the lift for the last three hours now and despite our efforts we have not been able to get them out yet" a police official told IANS around 1.30 pm.
Shopkeepers told the police that such incidents have occurred in the past too but the maintenance department of the building had failed to rectify the problem.
