New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) Free passage between Hong Kong and Shenzhen - crucial growth epicentres of China - will empower the youth and provide them greater opportunities for employment and cultural exchange, it was announced here Wednesday.

The conference on the theme "Empowering Youth - Men and Women" was organised by Global Citizens Forum (GCF) and BYD Overseas Group, and was attended by leading global personalities including business leaders, social thinkers, academics, artists and spiritual leaders.

The topic of discussion was the immigration law regarding regulation of passage between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

"I feel that a two-way entry system between Hong Kong and Shenzhen on the lines of Singapore and Malaysia to increase trade and cultural ties between the two areas shall give the youth an empowerment opportunity by the opening of employment and personal development prospects," said Bhupendra Kumar Modi, founder chairman, GCF.

"Youth are the future of the world and we should focus on constant encouragement and empowerment of youth," he added.

The other speakers expressed their desire and opinion for a free passage between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, based on best international practices prevalent in other parts of the world.

After the deliberations, a resolution requesting suitable amendment in law was adopted by the GCF.
