Pranav Pandya, who heads All World Gayatri Pariwar, has refused to accept a Rajya Sabha nomination, saying the atmosphere in the upper house of parliament was not conducive for him, and he would rather continue serving people from outside.
An official of the Haridwar-based Gayatri Pariwar told IANS that Pandya, son-in-law of the organisation's founder Pandit Shriram Sharma, refused the honour and has informed the authorities concerned about his decision.
Pandya, an MD in medicine, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha on May 4 by President Pranab Mukherjee on the Narendra Modi government's recommendation.
The president nominates 12 members drawn from fields such as literature, science, sports, arts and social service on the advice of the government.
