Actor George Clooney will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 72nd annual Golden Globes award ceremony.
The ceremony will be held Jan 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel here, reports variety.com.
The award is presented annually to an individual who's made "an incredible impact on the world of entertainment".
Previous recipients of the lifetime achievement honour include Woody Allen and Jodie Foster.
Clooney, a four-time Golden Globe winner, is also a two-time Oscar winner, most recently as producer of the 2013 best picture winner "Argo".
He has appeared in over 40 films and TV shows. He attained star status with the 1990s TV drama "E.R." before moving on to pursue a career in film.
The 53-year-old has directed five features, including "Good Night and Good Luck," "The Ides of March" and "The Monuments Men."
