Germany will reinstate controls at its southern border with Germany and Austria, the media reported.
The Bavarian state government has asked for mobilisation of federal police to accomplish the task, Xinhua cited the German newspaper Bild as reporting on Sunday.
The German government would send 21 groups of hundreds of riot police to Bavaria to help secure the border, said the report.
The police will also expand their dragnet controls to the borders with the Czech Republic and Poland in order to prevent evasion of border controls to Austria.
In another development, the government also stopped the train to and from Austria, according to a German newspaper "Passauer Neue Presse".
A confirmation of German government was however initially not available.
