World No.18 Saurav Ghosal lost to ninth-ranked Peter Barker of England in the opening round of the $50,000 Canary Wharf Squash Classic here.

The Kolkata-based player went down 5-11, 3-11, 4-11 to the third seed in a match played Tuesday. Barker faces sixth seed Simon Rosner of Germany in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
