A Goa court on Friday granted conditional bail to top Goa Cricket Association officials including president Chetan Desai, secretary Vinod Phadke and treasurer Akbar Mulla, who were earlier arrested for cheating the state cricketing body of Rs 3.13 crore released to it by the Board of Cricket Control of India.
The three were granted bail on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of similar amount.
Desai, Phadke and Mulla were arrested on June 15 by the Economic Offence Wing of the Goa Police, which was investigating the case.
According to the complaint filed by GCA member Vilas Desai, the three had in 2007 opened fake accounts in the Development and Credit Bank and deposited the money released by the BCCI into their personal accounts.
The BCCI has appointed a committee to probe the goings on in the GCA following their arrest.
