Spanish football club Granada has sacked coach Joaquin Caparros, two days after being knocked out of the Spanish Cup by Sevilla.

Reserve team coach Joseba Aguado Friday took over the team on an interim basis ahead of Sunday's trip to Atletico Madrid, reports Xinhua.

Caparros took over the reins at the beginning of the season, having previously coached Villarreal, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao.

Granada are second from bottom in La Liga after 18 matches.
