Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA) on Monday said it has appointed Mats Granryd as director general of the GSMA board.
Granryd served as president and CEO of Tele2 Group, and will assume leadership of the GSMA on January 1, 2016.
The GSM Association, formed in 1995, is an association of mobile operators and related companies devoted to supporting the standardising, deployment and promotion of the GSM mobile telephone system.
"There is much more to be done in extending the transformative effects of mobile, and Mats is ideal to lead the GSMA as we move forward in connecting the world," Fredrik Baksaas, chairman of the GSMA, said in a statement issued in Hong Kong.
