Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday asked senior officials of micro-blogging site Twitter to ensure that the site is not misused for any kind of extremism and terrorism activities.
Talking to media persons after meeting with Twitter's global head of public policy Colin Crowell, he said he had told him that "India is in the middle of terrorist hubs and faces this danger".
Twitter informed the minister that it has recently deleted 1 lakh entries from its platform.
Prasad also raised the recent issue when Jammu was represented as a part of Pakistan in Twitter.
"I have formally communicated our deep sense of dismay and disapproval on this. A greater sensitivity needs to be shown by these platforms as far as our geographical identity and integrity is concerned," he said.
Aiming to provide relief in case of natural disasters, Twitter will unveil 'Twitter for good' programme in India later this week.
