Hamilton expects thrilling competition in Singapore GP

Defending Formula One (F1) champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) said on Thursday that his team is anticipating a challenging race in Singapore, where one of the sport's top Grand Prix events is due to take place.

The 33-year-old Hamilton stated in a press conference held in Singapore that Mercedes has done a great job during the recent races, and that maintaining his team's overall performance is to be the squad's main priority, reports Efe news.

"Honestly I never even have expectations every time I come to race... but I guess just ultimately our expectation (is to) try to perform as well, if not better than we have in the past races," Hamilton said.

"But we do expect there is going to be some difficult races up ahead. Obviously, Ferrari has been ahead of us for the past few races... so it is going to be tough," the four time F1 World Champion added.

Hamilton praised the strategy the team is following as "it seems to be working, so we just keep that up for as long as we can."
