Patidar agitation leader and Patel Nav Nirman Sena President Hardik Patel on Tuesday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here and invited him to Gujarat for the December 28 'Kisan Sammelan'.
"I met Nitish Kumar and invited him to Gujarat. He accepted my invitation to attend the Kisan Sammelan," Patel told the media after the meeting.
Patel, who arrived here on Tuesday evening, went directly to the Chief Minister's official residence from Patna Airport.
Patel was given VIP treatment by the state government.
Amid speculation over the growing closeness of Nitish Kumar with Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah, Patel said he met Nitish Kumar as he wanted to unite people in his fight against the BJP.
"We have to unite our society to fight against the BJP in Gujarat and elsewhere," he said.
Nitish Kumar belongs to the agrarian Kurmi caste, and Hardik Patel too belongs to the powerful Other Backward Class caste in Gujarat.
Patel has not only lauded prohibition imposed in Bihar by Nitish Kumar but also dubbed it a historical step.
"Prohibition by Nitish Kumar has brought a big social change; people, particularly the poor, are happy," Patel said.
