Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday ordered a survey of all social, charitable and religious institutions which have been allotted land on concessional rates in the state.
"The survey will see if sites are being used only for purposes these were allotted and not rented out for commercial use," a government spokesman said here.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
The government's aim is to provide assistance to charitable institutions run for the welfare of the poor and needy and not those which are financially sound, Khattar said.
HUDA deals with land allotment for various projects, including residential and commercial, in the urban estates across Haryana.
