Moderate to heavy snowfall may occur across Himachal Pradesh this week, the Met department said Monday.

Heavy rain and snowfall are likely to occur at some places over high hills Jan 14.

The western disturbances - storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would be active in the region Jan 13-15.

Prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Dalhousie and Manali are likely to see light to moderate spells of snowfall, an official told IANS.

Keylong in Lahul-Spiti district was the coldest place in the state Monday at a low of minus 6.3 degrees Celsius, while state capital Shimla recorded a minimum of 11.2 degrees, 9.6 degrees above normal.

It was minus 1 degree in Kalpa in Kinnaur district, 0.6 degrees in Manali and 5.2 degrees in Dharamsala.
