"High danger avalanche warning has been issued by SASE (Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment) through the state disaster management authority for higher reaches of Chowkibal, Nawgam, Tangdhar, Machil, and Gurez," said an official of the state disaster management authority.
"Medium danger avalanche warning for Banihal, Khilanmarg, Sonamarg, Zojila, Furkiyan, Drass and Kargil has also been issued," he said, adding people living in these areas have been requested to exercise extreme caution.
