Delhi residents faced a scorching day on Monday as the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.7 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average. The Met office forecast light rain on Tuesday.
"There will be partly cloudy sky on Tuesday with light rain and thunderstorm likely towards evening and night," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38 and 26 degrees respectively.
The minimum temperature on Monday was 29.5 degrees, one notch above the season's average as the humidity ranged between 37 and 65 per cent.
Sunday's maximum settled at 39.6 degrees, the season's average, while the minimum temperature was 26.9 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average.
