It was a hot and sultry day in the capital Thursday with the maximum temperature settling a notch below average at 39.3 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has forecast light showers Saturday.
"An overcast sky is expected Saturday. Thunderstorm and light rains are likely during the day," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
Saturday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 40 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively, the IMD official added.
The minimum temperature Friday settled at 25.7 degrees Celsius, which was two notches below the season's average. The humidity wavered between 77 and 46 percent.
Thursday's maximum temperature was recorded at 43.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above average for this time of year, while the minimum was two notches above average at 25.7 degrees.
