Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is partnering with semiconductor firm Analog Devices to spur innovation in research and development (R&D) of micro-electro-mechanical systems (Mems) and nano science.
As Indian subsidiary of the US-based major in signal-processing, Analog will be one of the premier scince institute's industry affiliate programme at the centre for nano science and engineering (CeNSE).
"As a partner of CeNSE, we will provide product focus to researchers and aim for closer ties to co-design and co-develop leading edge industry solutions," Analog India managing director Som Pal Choudhury said in a statement here Wednesday.
Set up in 2010 to pursue interdisciplinary research across disciplines with focus on nano-scale systems, the centre (CeNSE) infuses innovation, provides industry insights, and accelerates commercialisation of research in micro-machines (Mems).
"The centre is also well equipped with a nano-fabrication facility to conduct research projects to solve real life problems in collaboration with the industry," said IISc professor and centre's founder chairman Rudra Pratap.
The centre also undertakes R&D in nano-electronics, nano-materials and devices, photonics, nano-biotechnology, solar cells and computational nano-engineering.
"As a part of the affiliate programme, we will bridge the gap between industry and research by initiating a technical association and identifying core areas for long-term collaboration in co-development of technologies and products," Choudhary said.
"The partnership will enable our researchers to work directly on industry problems, help translate cutting-edge technological innovation into products and services and commercialise them successfully" Pratap observed.
