India end first day at 231/7

India logged 231/7 at the end of play on Thursday, the first day of their fourth and final cricket Test against South Africa being held at the Ferozeshah Kotla here.

Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane was the top-scorer for the hosts and remained at the crease batting at 89 with Ravichandran Ashwin at 6.

Earlier, after opting to bat, India captain Virat Kohli and opener Shikhar Dhawan also made significant contributions of 44 and 33k, respectively.

Spinner Dane Piedt was the star bowler for South Africa as he picked up 4/101 while pacer Kyle Abbot scalped 3/23.
