India, Sri Lanka continue to release jailed fishermen

The Tamil Nadu government said Saturday that orders have been issued by a Sri Lankan court for the release of 60 jailed Indian fishermen and 15 fishing boats confiscated by the island nation.

A similar order has been issued in Tamil Nadu for the release of 17 Sri Lankan fishermen and seven boats, said a state government statement.

Since Jan 13, 232 Indian fishermen (211 from Tamil Nadu and 22 from Puducherry) have been released by Sri Lanka, the statement added.
