Women's steeplechaser Sudha Singh and men's long jumper Prem Kumar K. won silver medals to boost India's tally at the 20th Asian Athletics Championship here Friday.
Sudha was expected to grab gold but her body stiffened just after the first kilometre and she had to settle for silver with a timing of 9.56.27. Ruth Jebet of Bahrain won the gold with a new record of 9.40.84.
Earlier, in the long jump arena, Prem gave India a silver with a neat jump of 7.92 metres.
India also won two bronze medals with javelin thrower Simarjit Singh Malik and women's hurdler Hemasree J. clinching the medals.
