In a welcome development, Zaheer Khan, returning from an injury-induced break, took four for 59 as India A beat the West Indies A by an innings and 54 runs to draw the three-match series 1-1 here Saturday.
Narsingh Deonarine (99, 180b, 13x4) battled on for long, and added 82 runs for the fourth wicket with Assad Fudadin (49), but the Windies eventually collapsed to 242 with Zaheer doing the bulk of damage.
The turning point came when seamer Abhishek Nayar broke the Deonarine-Fudadin partnership and thereafter, it was a virtual procession as the Windies resistance caved in with Zaheer striking some deadly blows.
Brief scores:
West Indies A 268 and 242 all out in 73.5 overs (Kraigg Brathwaite 21, Narsingh Deonarine 99, Assad Fudadin 49, Zaheer Khan 4 for 59, Abhishek Nayar 2 for 45) lost to India A 564 for 9 by an innings and 54 runs.
