A teacher by profession, she left her career to pursue painting after a daily morning walk to the Bharatpur bird sanctuary inspired the artist in her.

Artist Neeta Galhotra's exhibition "Nature's Music", on display at the Civil Services Officer's Institute Art Gallery in Delhi since September 15, is her first work on nature.

The artist said she was in love with nature and her bright canvasses of birds and flowers in water colour bears testimony to it.

"I am fascinated by nature and love to explore its spontaneity through my paintings," said Galhotra.

When her husband was transferred to Bharatpur 20 years back, she didn't know it would change the course of her career.

A daily morning walk to the bird sanctuary there inspired the artist in her to take up painting.

"I used to go for a morning walk in the bird sanctuary and was captivated by nature. The images were etched in my mind and became the subject of my work later," she said.

After quitting her teaching job, Galhotra enrolled for a three-year course to learn the nuances of art.

"I pursued a three-year course which helped me a lot to master the art," she said.

Apart from water colour, Galhotra experiments with acrylic and oil as medium for her canvasses. "I love to work on Egyptian culture too," she said.
