Instant messaging platform 'Hike messenger' on Wednesday launched a new update to its application on the mobile platform claiming to be ready for the 4G network being deployed in the country.
As a part of the new update (version 4.0) Hike has introduced the ability to transfer any kind of file whether it be Documents, PDF, Zip and several other file types up to a size of 100 MB.
"To add to the fun, Hike has also launched photo filters and doodles to allow consumers to have fun and spice up their photos amongst a few other big upgrades to the app," the company said in a release.
"The update is five times faster than its predecessor and is designed for the next billion Indian consumers, who are experiencing internet for the first time."
"The big new update has been optimised for low-end phones and particularly extremely poor network conditions. A new service called news has also been added," it said.
The latest release of Hike 4.0 is available for Android users on the Google Play Store starting Wednesday and Apple users will get the update in the coming week.
Commenting on the update, Kavin Bharti Mittal, CEO and founder of Hike said: "One can immediately tell the difference on how quick 4.0 is within a few minutes of using it and with the update we've also brought a tonne of new features to the market."
The messaging platform also claimed that its monthly messages exchange rates had doubled from last year to reach 20 billion.
"We're not stopping here. We've got a lot more coming. Expect us to release one big new feature on top of this every month until the end of the year," Mittal said.
