The Iran men's football team's international friendly against Morocco is set to be called off, according to reports in the local media.
The match was scheduled to be held on January 6 at Dubai's Al Ain Stadium in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers.
However, Xinhua news agency quoted local daily Tehran Times as reporting on Wednesday that the Iranian team will only hold their seven-day training camp in Dubai without playing a friendly.
According to the report, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has only allowed the game to be held behind closed doors. But many Iranian fans in the UAE are interested in attending the game.
Iran will play Qatar and China on March 23 and 28 respectively in Group A of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification tournament for Asia.
Other teams in the group are South Korea, Uzbekistan and Syria.
