Iranian club denies links with Del Piero

Iranian football club Persepolis has denied reports that the team has had negotiations to sign Italian veteran Alessandro Del Piero.

Persepolis spokesman Hossein Ghoddusi said Monday the team has no plans to sign the the prolific Italian striker, who now applies his trade with Australia's Sydney FC, reports Xinhua.

"We have not negotiated with Del Piero at all. Persepolis has no money to spend," he said.

The ex-Juventus striker had joined Sydney FC on a two-year deal in September 2012.
