Irate over no action against those who had beaten up two doctors at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh district, 35 doctors collectively resigned on Monday.
Doctors said the family members of an elderly woman who died on August 16 thrashed Dr Amit Shukla and Dr Vikas Jain. They added that a complaint in this regard has been filed but police have not initiated any action yet.
Dr Ashok Nayak told the media here that doctors had issued a three-day ultimatum to the management demanding action as per the Doctors' Protection Act on charges of creating disruption in government work, security and arrest of the accused but no action was taken, forcing the 35 doctors to collectively resign in protest on Monday.
The patients here are facing a lot of problems in the absence of doctors. The kidney patients in particular are bearing the brunt of this episode as dialysis facility is available only at the government hospital but there are no doctors available.
