The National Federation of Government ITI Employees Association on Sunday urged the Centre to bring uniformity in the pay scale and designations of all the instructors at the government ITI colleges across the country.
Industrial Training Institutes and Industrial Training Centres are training institutes which provide training in technical fields, and are constituted under the Directorate General of Employment Training in the ministry of labour and employment.
In a conference held here and attended by the presidents of all the state ITI colleges, the association stated that till the instructors in the ITI colleges are paid unequally and not given proper designations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Skill India initiative cannot be fulfilled.
"It's we the engineers who can make the skill India initiative by Narendra Modi a reality. Currently apart from the unequal pay, in every state ITI instructors have different designations and also have different pay scale causing a huge gap," said Devender Singh, president of the association, during the conference.
Singh also said that if the government does not agree to the demand of the association, the members will hold a massive protest.
Speaking on the occasion, the association's secretary Vinod Sekhawat said that a delegation of the members would soon meet the prime minister and present the memorandum of demands.
The association also launched its website www.nfiti.org during the occasion.
