A special court Friday extended, till Oct 3, the judicial custody of YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in disproportionate assets case.
The CBI special court also extended the custody of businessman Nimmagadda Prasad and former bureaucrat K.V. Brahmananda Reddy by two weeks. They were produced before the court through video-conference from Chanchalguda Central Jail.
Former ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao, who are also accused in the case, appeared before the magistrate.
Jagan, as the MP from Kadapa is popularly known, is in jail since May last year.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged him with entering into a criminal conspiracy to get quid pro quo investments in his companies when his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the chief minister between 2004 and 2009.
The CBI has so far filed 10 charge sheets against Jagan, his aides, state ministers, IAS officers and also corporate entities which allegedly made investments in his firms in return for the favour they received from the government.
The court is set to pronounce orders on Jagan's bail petition on Sep 23. It reserved the orders Wednesday after hearing the arguments.
The MP sought the bail as the four month deadline set by the Supreme Court for the CBI to complete the investigations ended early this month. The investigating agency, however, opposed the bail on the ground that, if released, Jagan could influence the trial.
