A jailed legislator from Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Anant Singh, resigned from the party on Wednesday.

Anant Singh has sent his resignation to state JD-U president Vashisht Narain Singh, a JD-U leader here said.

Anant Singh, known as "Chhote Sarkar" for his muscle and money power, was arrested in June in connection with a kidnapping-cum-murder case. After that, his old criminal cases were also opened.

Anant Singh, a legislator from Mokamah, was arrested under pressure from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad. The cases against him include those of murder and kidnapping.
