The Jharkhand assembly unanimously passed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, 2017, at a specially convened session on Thursday.

Jharkhand Urban Development Minister C.P. Singh tabled the GST Bill in the house.

Main opposition Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator Stephen Marandi had suggested two amendments but those were not moved.

As the bill was passed, the JMM legislators came to the well of the house shouting slogans against the amendments to two key land acts of the state.

"GST has been passed unanimously. The JMM legislator did not move any amendments. Now it will pave the way for one country, one tax," Singh told reporters.

"Jharkhand is a producing state and it may suffer some losses. The central government has agreed to compensate the losses taking 2015-2016 as the base year," the minister said.
