Jharkhand to simplify e-payment system project in panchayats

The Jharkhand government is working to simplify the e-payment system project in panchayats of the state.

"Jharkhand chief secretary R.S. Sharma Wednesday directed for simplifying the system of e-payment in the Panchayati Raj Department. He was speaking at a meeting with information technology officers with regard to implementing the e-payment system project in the Panchayati Raj," said a press statement.

At the meeting held at the Project Building, Sharma agreed to the proposal of hiring manpower for the Panchayati Raj Department at the district and state levels for the project. He said the District Project Management Unit and State Project Management Unit would leverage the project. He stressed on IT-driven arrangements at the ground level.

Sharma said the work of data entry operators to be engaged at the panchayat level should be evaluated automatically, and directed the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to develop a programme to calculate the number of entries of each panchayat.
