Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung Thursday met union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The two are learnt to have discussed the current political situation in Delhi which has been under central rule since Feb 17 after Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal Feb 14 resigned as the chief minister over failure to pass the Jan Lokpal bill in the assembly.
While there is a lack of clarity over government formation as the Delhi assembly is under suspended animation, the Bharatiya Janata Party's local unit is understood be keen to stake claim for the same.
The BJP was apparently in talks with six Congress legislators to cobble the majority in the assembly.
Meanwhile, the AAP has asked Jung to dissolve the assembly and said inviting the BJP to stake claim to form the government would "encourage horse-trading".
After three BJP legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha in May, the effective strength of the assembly has come down from 70 to 67, while the strength of the BJP also got reduced to 28 from 31.
The Aam Aadmi Party has 27 lawmakers in the assembly, while the Congress has eight. The others include an Akali Dal legislator, one of the Janata Dal-United member, an independent and an AAP rebel.
