Wilson Kipsang has set his sights on reclaiming the world record from Dennis Kimetto, besides another shot at glory in Kenyan colours at the Beijing World Championships next year.

"In athletics, each and everyone has his own ambitions. So for me I think I have broken the world record and it's still in my mind to get it back because I still have the confidence to go for it," the New York Marathon champion was quoted as saying by Xinhua Wednesday.

Kimetto smashed Kipsang's world record of two hours, three minutes and 23 seconds by a staggering 26 seconds in the Berlin Marathon Sep 28.

Kipsang, who had to settle for 2012 Olympic bronze, is keen to complete the unfinished business of climbing the middle step of the podium in Beijing next year.

"I had my chance in London and the race did not go well that day and if given another chance, I will take it since my mission is to win gold for my country," he added.
