Chelsea's Belgian international Kevin de Bruyne, 22, has signed a contract with Wolfsburg until 2019, the German Bundesliga football club confirmed Saturday.

After a long back-and-forth, Wolfsburg CEO Klaus Allofs finally reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign the talented attacking midfielder.

De Bruyne had played for Werder Bremen on a loan spell from 2012 until 2013, where he scored 10 goals in 33 appearances.

"We are pleased that Kevin will come to us. He always indicated that Wolfsburg's is his desired destination. Kevin is convinced of the sportive perspectives in Wolfsburg and he has the potential to play a major role in our squad," Klaus Allofs told the clubs official homepage.

The new arrival is part of the Belgium team since 2010 scoring four goals in 18 caps.

"I am very pleased that the transfer worked out. Klaus Allofs and Dieter Hecking have built a very good team with great potential. I want to help the club so that we can continue to be successful and able to return to the international business," De Bryune said.

His new coach Dieter Hecking added: "With the signing of Kevin de Bruyne we managed to increase the quality of our squad. Kevin is a player with outstanding abilities. I am very happy that he opted for Wolfsburg".

The "Wolves" sit currently on the fifth position with 30 points, 14 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich.
