A landlord was arrested in Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar on charges of raping his tenant, police said Saturday.
The incident took place in a slum in Vani Vihar area Friday, but came to light after the victim's husband, who is a driver, lodged a complaint, D.K. Mishra, inspector in-charge of Saheed Nagar police station told IANS.
Mishra said the victim, aged about 30, was alone at her home when the incident occurred. The landlord Amitabh Satapathy, allegedly entered her room with his friend.
Satapathy allegedly raped the woman after drugging her, Mishra said.
Police have arrested Satapathy and investigating the case to find out if his friend was also involved in the crime, he said.
Police are also questioning the accused's wife after the victim's husband said she had masterminded the crime.
