Lifetime achievement award for Khuswant Singh

Renowned Indian writer Khushwant Singh was Friday awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Mumbai LitFest 2013 here.

The award was received by his close friends Trilochan Sahney and Bir Sahneyon on behalf of the 98-year old writer.

The award, which carries a citation, silver plaque and cash prize of Rs.500,000, has been instituted to recognise, and honour his outstanding contribution to the Indian literature.

The past recipients of the award have been V.S. Naipaul in 2012, and Mahasweta Devi in 2011.
