Actor Akshay Oberoi says that he loves to work with his "Laal Rang" co-star Pia Bajpai, with whom he shares screen space again in the short film "The Virgins".
About "The Virgins", Akshay says: "The film talks about virginity so naturally there were lots of sex scenes in the film. I am happy that Pia was the actress and we are quite comfortable with each other. I respect her a lot and I love working with her. When you have a better actor opposite you, you tend to give a better performance."
Akshay also didn't have any awkwardness in filming the intimate scenes with Pia. "I had no hesitation to do the role."
The short film is directed by Sandeep A. Varma, and produced by "Jab We Met" filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's ex-wife Preety Ali and Vinay Mishra, under the banner Humara movies. It also features Divyendu Sharma of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" fame.
Akshay plays the boyfriend to whom the bride-to-be has lost her virginity. About his character, he said: "The character is quite, mischievous and fun. He is very much in love with Pia in the film. What I am in my real life, this character is almost the same."
He added, "This film addresses the issue of premarital sex. According to our culture, premarital sex is unacceptable. Here a guy wants to marry a virgin girl. Since the girl already had a boyfriend, so her dilemma is what would she say to her would-be husband. That is what the film is about."
Akshay said that he bagged the role after the makers loved his performances in his previous films. Describing the film as coming-of-age cinema, the actor also added that today's youth should discuss sex and virginity openly.
"The Virgins" is scheduled for release on June 30.
