A couple and their eight-year-old daughter were killed after they jumped in front of a moving train in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district on Wednesday. The couple's one and a half years old daughter is grievously injured but survived, police said.
Why the family committed suicide is not known, but it is learnt that the couple had frequent quarrels over the husband's addiction to alcohol.
Dasharath Dubey, who heads the Kumhari police station, told IANS that the husband, Rajkumar Yadav, was a resident of Majhgawan in Katni district. His in-laws belong to Fatehpur.
His wife Savita along with their three daughters went to visit her parents.
On Tuesday evening, Yadav set off on his motorcycle to his paternal village. He picked up his wife and two of his daughters on way back.
However, they stopped at the Sagauni railway station and jumped in front of a moving train.
The police retrieved a suicide note from Rajkumar's pocket in which he has requested transfer of his property to his third daughter living with her maternal uncle.
His motorcycle was found at a distance from the railway track.
